Did you know Spinifex just turned 30?
Yep, three decades of helping businesses tell their stories, train their teams, and get their messages moving. To celebrate, we set ourselves a challenge: honour 30 of the projects we’ve loved most.
So, we posted one every day across LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook. We built case study landing pages. We shared throwbacks. We laughed. We reminisced. We got a little emotional.
And we also got very, very tired.
Because here’s the thing no one tells you about content challenges like “30 posts in 30 days” until you’re deep in day 17, hunched over your laptop at 11:47pm, fingers covered in chip dust: this is not a sustainable content strategy.
And amongst other things, we’re the people businesses pay to make content. So when we tell you it’s a lot? It’s a lot.
We did it. Thirty posts. Thirty days. (Plus 30 landing pages and a partridge in a pear tree.) We wrote like our Wi-Fi depended on it. And what we learned might just save you from content burnout and help you build a better way forward.
Working on and in your business? Good luck.
If you’ve ever tried to write content while also answering client calls, scheduling jobs, reviewing product samples, chasing invoices, and figuring out how Instagram Reels work, hi. You’re our people.
And you probably already know there is no magic window in your day. There’s just effort squeezed into the edges.
Writing one or two strong posts a week while running a business is already a stretch. Writing thirty? That’s a marathon in stilettos.
So if you’ve ever started a content sprint, only to fizzle out on day five, you’re not alone. You’re smart. You realised early that this wasn’t the best use of your energy.
Yes, content works. But only if it fits your business.
We love content. It’s our bread and butter. But here’s the hard truth: content for content’s sake will break you.
We’re seeing more small business owners, marketers, and founders chasing growth, visibility and connection online but they’re getting caught in the trap of content overwhelm. Trying to post daily, write landing pages, send emails, build customer journeys, all while managing BAU. It’s too much.
The result? Exhaustion. Muddled messaging. And an Insta grid full of half-baked thoughts and last-minute selfies.
And then there’s the Big Dream…
Every now and then a client comes to us with the full menu:
“We want to do TikTok, Insta, Facebook, and LinkedIn every day. Short videos, carousel posts, trending audio, thought leadership…”
In the immortal words of Darryl Kerrigan: Tell ’em they’re dreamin’.
We love the ambition. But unless you’ve got a full-time content team, a spare 20 hours a week, and a bottomless well of ideas, that kind of “do it all” strategy is a fast-track to creative burnout and inconsistent content.
You don’t need more. You need what works.
Even with an agency, you need help
This might sound strange coming from us but hiring an agency isn’t a silver bullet either. We’ve had clients come to us after a failed stint with another provider saying, “We thought they’d just do it all… but we still had to feed them content, approve everything, write briefs, and chase deadlines.”
Yep. We hear you.
The problem isn’t that agencies don’t help. The problem is expecting them to run your content strategy without being part of your team. The good ones (hi 👋🏽) will help you think smarter and stretch further but we still need your insights, your audience understanding, your vision. The difference is: we bring the execution muscle and the strategic brains to do it with you, not just for you.
And if you think ChatGPT will solve your content column forever? Think again.
Yes, we use AI. Yes, it’s great for getting a draft moving. But it still needs you. Your knowledge. Your context. Your tone. Your customer stories. Your strategic priorities.
ChatGPT doesn’t know what you know. It can’t read your boardroom slides. It hasn’t seen your product backlog or your client’s angry email.
You still need to think. To decide what matters. To know your audience. That’s the part only you (or a great partner who asks the right questions) can do. AI is a tool, not a plan.
So what does work?
After 30 days of flat-out content production, here’s what we know helps small teams build a consistent content rhythm without losing their minds:
1. Structure beats scramble
You don’t need to work harder. You need a smarter setup. A clear message, reusable building blocks, and a rhythm you can actually stick to will always beat last-minute chaos.
2. One message, many uses
If you’re writing a great post don’t let it live and die on LinkedIn. Repurpose it for a landing page. Email it to your list. Turn it into three reels. Use it in sales conversations. Make your message travel further without starting from scratch every time.
3. Automate what you can
You’re not a robot. So let the robots help. We build email journeys and automated flows that do the follow-up, reminders, and nudges so you can focus on running your business (or drinking that coffee before it goes cold).
4. Start with strategy
Before you write a single post, know why you’re doing it. Who’s it for? What’s the action you want? What’s the message that actually matters? Otherwise, you’ll just be adding to the noise.
5. Stop aiming for “more” and start aiming for “better”
Consistency doesn’t mean every day. It means showing up with purpose. Better to have two great pieces a week that connect, than daily filler that confuses.
Here’s the quick takeaway:
Creating content takes time. A lot of it.
- Content without strategy is just noise.
- Even with an agency, you still need clarity, direction, and a way to keep it rolling.
- AI won’t fix it if you don’t know what you want to say.
- Working on your business matters but you need help to make that space.
- You don’t need more content you need a sustainable content strategy.
You don’t have to do it all. You just need a team that gets it. Who can plug into your chaos and pull out something that works. That’s us.
So if your brain’s fried and your to-do list is laughing at you, let’s talk. We’ll bring the muscle and the systems. You bring the ambition.
